Jasleen Royal has finally spoken out. She opened up about the emotional challenges she faced, how she dealt with online trolling, and her personal growth as an artist. In her recently released mini-documentary titled Dare To Dream, Jasleen takes fans behind the scenes during one of the most difficult moments in her career.
The video captures her scrolling through social media while her team tries to lift her spirits before the second day of the concert at DY Patil Stadium. Clearly concerned, Jasleen questions her team about the technical glitch that disrupted her performance.
“It wasn’t fine yesterday. What was the problem? Why were my in-ears bursting?” she asks. One of her team members promptly responds, “The creative part is yours, but we’re sorry for the technical part.”
As the documentary unfolds, Jasleen shares the overwhelming pressure she felt in the face of harsh criticism. “At one point, I just felt like it was time to go home,” she says through tears. “There’s a lot of pressure. I swear, I felt like I would die.”
She then candidly addresses her musical background. “I’m not a trained singer,” Jasleen admits. “I know I’m not perfect, but I’m a self-taught musician. I’m learning every single day and doing my best to improve. I just don’t want people to feel like I didn’t deserve to be there. Or to hear things like, ‘Why is she here? We only want Coldplay. We don’t like her music’.”
However, her vulnerability didn’t shield her from public criticism. Several industry veterans, including Vishal Dadlani, Antara Mitra, and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, slammed her performance.

Vishal Dadlani commented, “I’m really sorry, but putting a basic-to-bad singer on a huge stage only shows more people that the individual can’t sing. Unfortunately, record labels in India don’t always promote the best talent. I watched some clips, and honestly, it was embarrassing—for the artist, the audience, and the music scene.”
Despite the backlash, Jasleen’s documentary reveals her determination to grow and her commitment to authenticity. Jasleen Royal continues to push forward, hoping to connect with listeners who appreciate her heartfelt journey.
