Goldberg, one of WWE’s most dominant forces, made headlines with his surprise return at Bad Blood 2024. He interrupted a heated segment between Gunther and Triple H, instantly igniting rumors of a final match. Gunther didn’t hold back and teased the former Universal Champion, hinting at a future showdown. Just weeks later, Goldberg confirmed the speculation — announcing his retirement and revealing plans for one last match in 2025.
While fans expected him to feature at WrestleMania 41, He was not included in the match card. That means the WWE Universe will have to wait a few more months for his final in-ring appearance. However, excitement is already building, especially after Goldberg shared new details about how his farewell bout came to be.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg revealed that Triple H personally reached out to him.
“I was astonished when he called. Honestly, I hung up at first because I didn’t recognize the number. But when we spoke, I felt honored. He told me he saw an interview where I mentioned feeling like I was owed a retirement match. Then he asked if I was still open to the idea and said we should talk.”
Goldberg expressed appreciation for the gesture and said he believed Triple H was sincere.
“It meant a lot to hear that. I’ve done a lot in this business, and to know someone like Triple H recognizes that—it’s special. Sure, it’s a business decision, but I do think he was speaking from the heart.”
Although WWE hasn’t officially confirmed the match, Goldberg’s opponent is expected to be Gunther, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. This matchup would mark a high-profile and fitting end to Goldberg’s career.
Goldberg’s last WWE appearance in the ring came at Elimination Chamber 2022, where he faced Roman Reigns. In that match, Reigns successfully retained his title, defeating Goldberg in the opening bout.
As the countdown to 2025 begins, all eyes are on WWE’s next move—and the legendary Goldberg’s final chapter.
