The police have registered a (Pocso) case against Pastor John Jebaraj, 37, pastor of Kings Generation Church on Cross Cut Road in Coimbatore, for alleged sexual assault on two minor girls.
A senior officer of the Coimbatore City Police said, Jebaraj. Who has a large following on social media for his Christian devotional songs, was booked for offenses under Sections 9 (l) (m) (aggravated sexual assault) and 10 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Pocso) Act. The police are on the lookout for Jebaraj, added the officer.
Police sources said the alleged sexual assault took place at Jebaraj’s residence at G.N. Mills on May 21, 2024. The survivors, aged 17 and 14, had taken part in a party that Pastor John Jebaraj arranged at his residence on the day.
Sources said one of the girls lodged a complaint with the All Women Police Station, Coimbatore Central, accusing the pastor of misbehaving with them during the party. The complainant recently disclosed the incident to a relative, following which the alleged sexual assault came to light, and she approached the police, added sources.
The police stated that Jebaraj serves as the lead pastor of Kings Generation Church at Cross Cut Road and manages Levi Ministries, a Christian organization.
