Vijay Slams DMK as ‘Fascist’ at TVK General Body Meet, Warns PM Modi on Tamil Nadu Politics
Chennai: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay launched a scathing attack on Tamil Nadu’s ruling DMK, calling it a “fascist” party at his party’s first general body meeting near Mahabalipuram. Vijay accused the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of mirroring the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its authoritarian approach.
Vijay Declares 2026 Tamil Nadu Elections a Two-Party Battle
During the meeting, which marked TVK’s first anniversary, Vijay declared that the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections would be a contest between DMK and TVK. “One is DMK, and the other one is TVK,” he asserted.
Taking a jab at Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, he criticized DMK’s dynasty politics, stating, “Politics should ensure the happiness of all families, not just one family.” He also accused Stalin of deliberately blocking his party cadres from meeting him at various events.
“You claim that those new to politics dream of becoming CM and that it will never happen. If so, why create obstacles?” Vijay questioned.
Vijay’s Caution to PM Modi on Tamil Nadu Politics
Vijay also warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly on the delimitation issue. “We understood your intentions with ‘One Nation, One Election’. Handle Tamil Nadu carefully—its people have taught lessons to many,” he cautioned.
While emphasizing that his political rival is DMK, he clarified that BJP is his ideological rival.
TVK Passes 17 Resolutions, Opposes Power Centralization
The TVK general body meeting passed 17 resolutions, including:
- Demand to continue the two-language formula
- Opposition to the Waqf Amendment Bill
- Call for a caste census
- Rejection of centralization of power by the Centre
One resolution specifically targeted PM Modi’s governance. “As Gujarat’s CM, Modi spoke for state rights. As PM, he is reducing states’ powers.”
Demand for Fishermen’s Protection & Women’s Safety
TVK also urged a permanent resolution for Tamil Nadu’s fishermen issue, citing ongoing attacks by the Sri Lankan navy. “The Centre should treat Tamil fishermen equally with Gujarat’s fishermen,” the resolution stated.
Vijay also raised concerns about law and order and women’s safety in Tamil Nadu. “The state is at its worst. To protect women and restore order, we must remove the corrupt government,” he urged.
TVK’s Challenge to DMK’s Alliance Politics
TVK’s General Secretary (Election) Aadhav Arjuna accused DMK of weakening its alliance partners, stating, “DMK destroyed Vaiko’s MDMK and is now targeting VCK. Thirumavalavan should realize this.”
Vijay concluded by urging TVK workers to connect with the people. “Solve their problems, gain their trust, and we will win the election,” he stated.
